Sole Source & Subcontracting

Being an SBA VetCert SDVOSB company, contracting officers can sole source contracts with an award that will not exceed $5 million.

Subcontractor limitations do not apply to similarly situated certified SDVOSB.

SBA Small Business

The government limits competition for certain contracts to small businesses. Those contracts are called “small business set-asides,” and they help small businesses compete for and win federal contracts.

Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB)

Certification with SBA allows service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVOSB) the opportunity to compete for sole-source and set-aside contracts across the federal government.

Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB)

Certified veteran-owned small businesses (VOSBs) have additional opportunities to pursue sole-source and set-aside contracts at the Veterans Administration (VA) under the VA’s Vets First program.

SBA Small Disadvantaged Business

Federal Government awards about 10% of all federal contract dollars to Small Disadvantaged Businesses. SBA’s Office of Government Contracting and Business Development monitors the progress of 24 Executive Branch agencies in contracting with Small Disadvantaged Businesses.

Certified Business Enterprise Veteran-Owned (VBE)

Florida Veteran-owned small businesses that are certified by the state are the first tier of businesses referred to for state agencies seeking to include supplier diversity as a part of their purchase order and contract opportunities.

Competitive Set-aside

When at least two small businesses could perform the work or provide the products being purchased, the government sets aside the contract exclusively for small businesses. With few exceptions, this happens automatically for all government contracts under $150,000. Some set-asides are open to any small business, but some are open only to small businesses that participate in SBA contracting assistance programs.
